I hate this game with a passion. Way too hard, way too frustrating to control, and only fun if your idea of a good time is to hit yourself in the head with a rusty hammer.
Still any game where you spend half the time wearing boxer shorts can’t be all bad, and who knows you might end up meeting someone along the way.
I mostly played the C64 conversion, which is technically excellent but still way too hard for me. I tried again on the Super Nintendo and got so angry with it I ended up returning it – and it was a rental.

Somehow, you missed the second game in the series, which is still insanely hard, but stops just short of the point where it’s no longer any fun. Unfortunately, everyone associated with play-testing that game was later found dead, and without any pants on.
That’s pretty much the fate that awaits all testers of any game, unfortunately.
I think a Ghouls ‘n’ Ghosts comic is long overdue, good call!
