Face facts: PlayStation 1 games are now officially retro. That means Crash Bandicoot is retro, Spyro The Dragon is retro, and the glorious Destruction Derby is gloriously retro too.

I really liked Crash Bandicoot! It was a funky alternative to Nintendo’s Mario 64, and there was lots of variety in the levels and it even worked with that 2D PlayStation controller. It helped that all the levels were pretty much 2D too, just made to look 3D. It was fiendishly difficult in places but also very welcoming to a new generation of gamers, which is pretty much the definition of a good platform game in my book.

Shame I never got to work on that Crash game I wanted to make.
