I was first introduced to Tetris Battle Gaiden by my friends Paul and Brad, who kept raving on about how wonderful it was 15 years ago on IRC.

(IRC was…kinda like Twitter, I guess? Ask your parents about it)

And a little while later I got to play it with them – and a bunch of other people from IRC – in a cramped Holiday Inn hotel room for hours on end after hours during E3 in…’99, I think? While everyone else was out partying we were huddled around a crappy hotel TV having an absolute blast, we were dorks but we were happy.

It’s a great game, one of my favourite two player puzzle battle games ever, but man is it dense! You can spend weeks learning about all its weird and wonderful strategies.
