It wasn’t a good game by any measure of the word, but the cherry on top of the shit-stained cake was topped by its bonus stage, which set player characters up against each other in a bonus round, and where the losing player had to pony up the money for another credit if they lost. If they wanted to continue playing the game, that is.

Pit-Fighter was o.k. on arcades for a 1990 game but the home version was, in general ( we can save the Genesis/Megadrive I guess…) atrocious. It suffered the Street Fighter 2 cyclone so PF boards were substituted by SF2 ones.

Mortal Kombat was a more refined evolution of Pit-Fighter concept.
